The Role of Social Media in Education

The Role of Social Media in Education

We are seeing education institutions adapting these developments into Their systems and relying on group resources and mechanisms to Improve the student life.
The set of technological advances continues to develop at an accelerated pace. Blogs, wikis, chats, or podcasts, among others, are the ideal complement for the development of the tutorial function, but it is the teacher

In social networks people create, share and organize information around various interests. The education system can not remain outside the technological changes that are causing this social revolution and must be constantly renewed.
Creating a sense of community is a fundamental part of the learning environment and directly influences a more complete understanding of the contents. It is no longer a unidirectional methodology teacher-student, it is to enhance self-learning through interaction, making the most of the knowledge of both tutors and peers, as well as their own.
Social networks allow the tutor to direct their students in their own space and language. It relates to them in a closer and informal environment, discovering their needs and interests, promoting interaction, observing the relationship between them and providing useful information beyond the classroom.
Therefore, networks are very important for teachers to know a little more about the concerns of their students and know how to act in case there is any problem or need. Of course, networks, to be an effective tool in the classroom, have to have a degree of control and responsibility on the part of both students and teachers.
Undoubtedly, social networks are a great opportunity for learning, education and professional development of students as well as a place for the exchange of experiences.
